Those with Pitchy Voice Need Sing Software
November 2, 2011 – 4:03 pmIf you have been to a concert lately where the lead singer was continually having pitchy voice, you will appreciate these notes. Pitchy voice is common in live performances, especially those requiring live sound reinforcement. The problems with pitchy voice are numerous and begin with the basic inability for singers to hear themselves accurately even without amplification. However, amplification adds to the problem because the PA system can distort the EQ and other effects to make ones voice virtually unrecognizable. Sing software has been able to help with the first problem, but may not be able impact the live setting for another year or two of software developments.
Sing software programs such as PitchPerfector™ can train singers to sing on pitch and remedy the first cause of pitchy voice in public performances. The sing software fits with a singers’ daily vocal warm up exercises so there is no extra time commitment to make solid improvement. In the near future this software will add special effects feedback to emulate live performance situations, thereby extending the pitch training pedagogy to span the entire range of performance environments. The first will be adding simple effects so that the singer can practice with small to large acoustic performance room emulations. The next likely advance would include emulations for small, medium, and large amplified environments.
